Lake Charles Methanol II, LLC (LCM) plans a $3.24 billion investment in constructing a new manufacturing plant at the Port of Lake Charles, Southwest Louisiana in mid 2024. Using advanced technology, it will produce low-carbon intensity methanol and other chemicals, creating 123 direct jobs with an average salary of $135,955, along with 605 indirect jobs, totaling 728 potential new jobs in the region. Over 2,300 construction jobs will also be generated. Governor Jeff Landry supports the project, emphasizing its economic benefits, aiming to produce 3.6 million tons of methanol annually while capturing and sequestering around 1 million metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.
The City of Lake Charles is launching the LA Launch Lake Charles Business Innovation Center, aimed at promoting business in North Lake Charles. Located at 1520 N. Martin Luther King Highway, the center will serve as an economic incubator, focusing on fostering growth for small businesses and undeserved communities. The innovation center will provide education, tools, and leased spaces for business owners, aiming to support them from idea generation to full-scale development
