National Developer Plans $300M Amphitheater On Chattanooga Riverfront

What This Means For You: A Chattanooga company is partnering with a publicly traded national venue developer to build a $300 million, 12,500-seat amphitheater on the Tennessee River off Riverfront Parkway, set to be one of the city’s largest entertainment venues. Urban Story Ventures says the project is expected to generate more than $4.2 billion in regional economic impact.

New Reports Finds Chattanooga Area Population Growing Twice As Fast As U.S.

What This Means For You: A new report from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga shows the metro area’s population grew at more than twice the national rate between 2020 and 2025. CRER’s report says the Chattanooga metro area added more than 31,000 people during that five-year stretch, reaching nearly 595,000 residents. At the current pace, the population is expected to cross 600,000 sometime later this summer.

Developers Of South Broad District Plan For Real Estate Boom After Erlanger Park Opening

What This Means For You: A number of projects are under development surrounding the newly opened Erlanger Park. Out in the left field of the baseball stadium, a six story apartment building will break ground in the coming months. It’s expected to have more than 300 units. There will also be an 80,000 square foot office building constructed past center field, directly adjacent to the stadium. A new beer garden is one of the first new businesses going into the space near the stadium. Developers behind the South Broad District plan said that this is only the first phase of their project. So far, it’s expected to bring over $300 million dollars in private investments to the area. Phases two and three are expected to bring in subdivision for family homes, apartment and condo buildings, parks, and more spaces for businesses. Developers say this new real estate development plan could generate more than $102 million in revenue for the City of Chattanooga and for Hamilton County.

Chattanooga Lookouts, Tivoli partner to bring concerts and entertainment to Erlanger Park

What This Means For You: The Chattanooga Lookouts are expanding Erlanger Park beyond baseball through a new partnership with the Tivoli Theatre Foundation. The two organizations announced plans to bring live entertainment and performances to Erlanger Park using the Tivoli’s connections with touring acts and performers. The goal is to turn the new stadium into a year-round entertainment venue instead of limiting it primarily to baseball games. Leaders say the partnership could help attract larger events and more nationally recognized performers to Chattanooga.

EPB Will Give UTC $3.4M To Add Hundreds Of Quantum Personnel

What This Means For You: The EPB board of directors approved funding for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Quantum Center designed to deepen the economic development partnership between the city’s utility and its university. EPB will give the center $850,000 annually for four years in grants that will be matched by UTC. The funding is aimed at adding between 135 and 240 faculty, staff, and students focused on quantum at UTC over the next five years.
